About Fastvold’s project:
There is no danger to us here on Earth
What happens to your mind when you start thinking about the possibility of an asteroid the size of 2,4 km hitting our planet? Is it reassuring or unsettling to know that astronomers constantly keep track of all potentially harmful asteroids (PHAs) moving towards the Earth?
By bringing statistics of PHAs, parts of lunar meteorites, Mars rocks and other unidentified meteorite pieces which have actually moved through the atmosphere and landed on planet Earth, into her sculptural objects, Fastvold aims to question our relationship with time, space, perspective and probabilities.
The installation consists of sculptural objects and a stack of flyers. The flyers contain a risk analysis of meteorites that may hit the Earth during the exhibition period. The sculptural objects contain various stones, pearls, prisms and parts of meteorites from Mars and the Moon. Flyer for Small Project exhibit: There_is_no_danger_flyernov0112
